Whale watching

Between July and September the antarctic humpback whales emigrate traditionally to malagasy waters after a trip of more than 5.000 kilometres for littering and mating. It is then possible to observe them in several places as Anakao, Tolagnaro or Morondava but the two best suitable places are Antongil bay which constitutes one of the most important breeding areas of the Indian Ocean and especially Saint Marie island which is classified among the best world spots. The observation is led by the Association Cetamada which is well supported by the Tour Operators and has all necessary equipment with the possibility of training. Among the evolutions of these giants of the seas, the jump outside the water or “breaching” is by far the most spectacular and made perfectly by humpback whales. An unforgettable magic and memorable for whale watchers.
